The details of the 2009 Tour de France were announced today. This year's race brings 3,445 kilometers of racing over 23 days (including 2 rest days). There are some classic elements with a new twist. Here are some of the highlights:
The race will start on July 4th with a 15 kilometer individual time trial in Monaco.
The Team Time Trial is back for the first time since 2005.
Instead of a cruising into Paris on the second to last day they will race to the top of Mount Ventoux.
And of course there is the possible return of Lance Armstrong.
