Turn on the evening news, read the front page of the paper, flip to CNN, turn on news radio and you'll hear that the stock exchange is down, the world economy is crumbling, banks are failing, and real estate is tumbling.
It would be so easy to fall into a depression just from thinking about all of the potential economic problems.
With all of the negativity, the concern, the frustration, I found I had a decision to make. I know that some people make more money in tough times than in great ones. I know that some become millionaires despite what most would term a poor economy.
I came to the conclusion that I could have a pity party, bemoan the current situation and things about which I have no control, or I could take control of my life and the things I can control.
I could look for the positive. I can look at the fact that the affordability rate has gone up significantly in Orange County over the past several years, that lower housing prices make the American Dream a potential reality for more people, that there are home owners who need my help more than ever, that interest rates are still low, and I can choose to vibrate at a higher, more positive frequency and choose to help others to take advantage of the possibilities.
And, I have learned that making this choice makes many things possible. I received notice from a lender two days ago that they have accepted my short sale package for a listing. I have seven buyers actively looking, several of whom have already made offers for homes. I have a high end lease, and I have just learned of a duplex about to come on the market that may be just what one of my buyers has been wanting.
I have decided rather than having a pity party, I will take advantage of the current economy and turn lemons into lemonade.
Is anybody else tired of the doom and gloom? Does any one want to join me in the sunshine and find the positive rather than focusing on the negative?
I invite you to add your smiling face in the comments below. Let's take a positive attitude and see just how far we can go with it.
