Yesterday, I posted about my short wait in line and the excitement I felt casting my vote. I was relieved and ran to the nearest Starbucks for my free cup of joe. I would have preferred Dunkin Donuts coffee (that is my favorite), but free is free.
We should all be proud that so many were involved in the voting process. I am amazed at the number of young adults that played a part in such an important election. I spent a few hours at a local victory party for our Sheriff and came home anxious about the Presidential outcome.
I decided to not stay up all night and just go to bed- we would find out soon enough who our next President would be. I did not sleep well. I tossed and turned all night- I kept thinking to myself- get up and turn on the T.V., but, I did not.
My husband came in to tell me Obama had won.
I will not say which way I had voted, however, my first thought was "Can we come together on this one?"
Our Country seemed to be split, pretty much in half, and now the portion of Americans that are not getting the outcome they desired, how will they handle it?
Whether you are for or against Obama, he is now our President. And for me, I believe, instead of spending the next four years ridiculing and downgrading him- we should and must come together in support of him.
Now, we have to stand up, as Americans, and be proud of our Country and the choices that our new President will make.
I pray that we can come together. It is necessary for our Country. I believe we have to show a united front against the rest of the world and to our future children and grandchildren.
Let this just be a reminder that we all want the same freedoms and respect and sometimes we have to give a little to get a little.
