SEM and Advertising 101 - Banner Ads -Vs- PPC

By
Real Estate Agent with Overland Park Real Estate (No association with Inc)

Banner ads are in the SEM (Search Engine Marketing) world generally a waste of money...  At least if you are on a budget.  If you have several thousand to spend per month for branding then go for it.  Banners would be great for getting your name out there and letting people see your face and name.

The general click through rates on text ads (PPC) are generally higher than banner ads.  Due to the great old fact of over exposure.  People SEE THOUSANDS of ads every day, so text ads don't come of as offensive or just junk to the sub-conscience.

Think about it if you saw a website with a banner on the top and banner on the bottom but text ads on the side or in the content don't your eyes generally just skip over the banners as if they were not there, however you might at least grase over the text ads.  Or at least notice the bolded punch-lines.

Just my two cents.  Real Estate SEO <- Check out my blog for more in depth topics on SEO and SEM.

Please let me know of any questions, also I'm here to help.

I saw a post about this and felt I should help out some of you whom might be wondering.  My word is not holy so please don't think I'm pretending to be all knowing, just some suggestions to hopefully save some of my fellow Internet Geeks some money.

Awesome sounds good, its settling that I'm not banging away at these keys just to fill AR's database with more text :-P  Trying to read up in some of the larger groups right now and see what people are starting to chat and focus on, also what "so called SEO Gurus" are trying to say...LoL  Their posts are always entertaining to read.
