Wake Forest Garden Club Meeting

This month's meeting will focus on "Preparing your Garden for a Winter Nap." The guest speaker will be Marie Brown, Garden Specialist at the Knightdale Lowe's Home Improvement Center. Our country is forever indebted to our veterans for their quiet courage and exemplary service. We also remember and honor those who laid down their lives in freedom's defense. These brave men and women made the ultimate sacrifice for our benefit. On Veterans Day, we remember these heroes for their valor, their loyalty, and their dedication. Their selfless sacrifices continue to inspire us today as we work to advance peace and extend freedom around the world. With respect for and in recognition of the contributions our service members have made to the cause of peace and freedom around the world, the Congress has provided (5 U.S.C. 6103(a)) that November 11 of each year shall be set aside as a legal public holiday to honor America's veterans. Wake Forest Memorial Post 8466, Veterans' of Foreign Wars will conduct the celebration of Veterans Day on November 11, 2008 at the Heritage Wake Forest Veterans Memorial at 11:00 AM. The Veterans Memorial is located at the Heritage Golf Course club-house just off Rogers Road in Wake Forest. Many of the town's access roads have signs posted leading to the memorial site. The firing range is utilized by Wake Forest Police officers who require instruction and practice in order to obtain current certification in the use of firearms. This certification is required in order for the officer to fulfill his duties for the Wake Forest Police Department.
