Have been working on international investments today - husband and I will someday retire back to Central America. We've lived in Costa Rica, and will either choose to return there or Panama.
Wow that sounds adventurous and fun! Do you have family in the US and if so what is travel like to and from Central America? How is the exchange rate, etc? especially in these changing times.
I dream every day of returning to Guatemala, since I visited there in January! Good luck with your dreaming!!!
Maggie,We lived in Costa Rica in the mid 80's. CR has changed a lot since then...much more developed, but still beautiful. Air travel anywhere these days is tedious, but going to Central America, any country there, is pretty easy. Husband is in the cigar and box industry in Nicaragua, so he is back and forth a lot. Economically, living there is still good. There are still some real estate bargains to be found.
Caren, What took you to Guatemala?
