With Christmas only 5 weeks away I was wondering what toys were the most popular this year and I found this list from the BIGresearch firm:

2008 Top Toys for Girls
1. Barbie (Last Year's Rank: 1)
2. Disney Hannah Montana (6)
3. Dolls (generic) (3)
4. Bratz (2)
5. Nintendo Wii (7)
6. Video Games (-)
7. Elmo (9)
8. Disney High School Musical (-)
9. Disney Princess (5)
10. American Girl (10)

2008 Top Toys for Boys

1. Video Games (Last Year's Rank: 2)
2. Nintendo Wii (3)
3. LEGO (6)
4. Cars (generic) (4)
5. Transformers (1)
6. Elmo (9)
7. Star Wars (-)
8. Hot Wheels (-)
9. Remote Controlled Vehicles (10)
10. Xbox 360 (8)

No doubt about it, Barbie has been the queen for a long time.

Last month I went to buy a model car for a friend who was recuperating at home after surgery.  What happened to models?  I went to Wal Mart, KMart and Target and there was not a one on their shelves.  They had lots of LEGOs and Transformers, but that is not the same thing.  I left those stores feeling like another piece of the past had disappeared.

Dan, you no longer like toys? I still enjoy R/C cars and helicopters.  I like sharing the fun with my nieces and nephews.

Terry it looks like things haven't changed a whole lot over the years.  I remember trying to scope out video games.
