The Power of an 800 Call Capture Number?

By
Real Estate Agent with EXIT REALTY BEND

Okay.  Here is the deal.  I have been a Realtor for well over a decade and have used many methods to market my real estate services.  I first started using the 800 Call Capture system when I was selling in Iowa in 2000-2001.....in a market of just 7000 people.  I averaged at least 10 to 15 calls daily.  I was very happy with the services from Arch Telecom and their 800 system.

A couple years ago I was part of By Referral Only, the Joe Stumpt concept and bought in to some of their 800 Call Capture ideas.

I see Craig Proctor, guru of the Quantum Leap Program, pushes the 800 system as part of his toal marketing program.

Now, some 6 to 7 years later I am in one of the fastest growing area's on the United States, in Bend, Oregon. I once again bought in to the 800 Call Capture System and again went with the services of Arch Telecom. What has changed? I get perhaps 5 to 10 calls a MONTH! I use my 800 number in my full page monthly ad in The Real Estate Book.  I use my 800 number with my direct farm mailings to about 500 folks. I occasionally place a FREE REPORT ad in the classifieds....and guess what? Nothing.

Tell me....are any Realtors out there using the system and achieving a different outcome?  I am perplexed and open for any suggestions.

No, you doubled what I received per month in 2005. Our office offered the service to agents at a great price for each agent....We voted them out at the end of 2005...

Jim,

I have not tried the 800 number capture technology myself but I have to say that I have never heard of any agent that has either.  It sounds like this is not the way to spend your time and money.

I have used 800 call capture on listings, where the buyers can call an 800 for information regarding my listing, and that works great for me.  However the Craig Proctor type stuff really has not worked for me.

I don't think it's worth the cost. People want visual info on demand and don't want to sit through a long one sided dialog and waste their cell phone minutes. I set up a website for every listing. The domain is the home's address. If you set the site up the right way, you can collect info and generate leads. I have got over 150 hits on the site I just set up for my new listing. 23 people have requested more info by filling out and submitting the form and 16 people have given me their contact info because they have subscribed to my magazine. not bad for 2 weeks.

People are wise to it... by that I mean they know by know that if they call on of those 800 numbers, they are getting their number captured and that they are going to get called non-stop, and we all know how much the american public loves telemarketers.

I am still getting 30-40 calls a week and I am loving it! I use it on all my advertising expect my blogs. I couldn't be happier.

Put the 800 number on everything you do.  Write and ad for free reports to hand out.  The reports are key.  They need to be something that grabs the people.  Most of the systems I have seen do not have good reports.

partner with someone else that gets the word out about their business.  Get it on all their ads too.

Home buyers really like to be able to walkaway with tangible information.  An updated approach to this same concept is using Text Messaging to capture leads.  Our company offers a service where interested home buyers simply send a unique listing id to our SMS short code (ie. text 10035 to 44133), and they receive immediate info back on their cell phone.  Agents are immediately alerted to the inquiry and have the opportunity to follow up.  You also have their contact info and can send follow up text alerts to let them know of an upcoming open house or a price change.  You can check us out on the web at www.goomzee.com.   It's much more cost effective, because you pay one low monthly rate and its not a metered service where you have to pay per inquiry or minute.
