They Kill a man and keep shopping!?!?

On the 12:00 news to day, Black Friday took on new meaning. One day after we as a nation had given thanks for all we have, greed raised it's ugly head. The crowd at a New York Wal-Mart not content with the early open hours burst open the doors and trampled an employee. The man was taken to the hospital only to die of his injuries. Let me type that one more time, DIE of his injuries. The greed for a digital camera or plasma T.V. was so great the a man had to die for it. Gifts we give in memory of the greet gift of our Savior. Reduced to a made scramble of avarice of, I wants and must haves. And a man dies. His family for ever to view this holiday with tears and heartache. What have we come to in this nation of ours? What happened to smiles we had for each other yesterday as we walked off our Thanksgiving meals? What happened between packing up those boxes of food, for those in need of a holiday meal? And, Letting a man open a door.

Update: just when I think the human race has gone as low as it can go. Not only did the crowd stampede over a man and kill him. They kept his co-workers from going to hie aid. When the authorises tried to close the store, the crowd started yelling that they had been in line since the night before and refused to leave.I have no prays left for mankind.

I just saw this on the news... very sad.  Once again it is what people have been conditioned for/taught; be the first to get the best. It is probable that many of the people in the store that day will remember.

This is beyond tragic, its unimaginable!  How devastated the family must be, I have seen the Terrorists attacks on the Mumbai hotels this week and think thats horrible and awful... and it is.. but a young man struck down by shoppers?  Grief and sadness will forever be a part of his families holiday.  Their is NO sale in the world worth this price.

Carol...

This is unbelievable. What have we become. My wife works in a department store so I am especially sensitive to this kind of story.

I am mortified by the horrific behavior we see year after year on black Friday!  Each year it gets worse, the stories of fist fights, injuries and brutal behavior that can only be described as uncivilized.  This was only a matter of time and sadly horribly unnecessary.  Retailers need to stop this black friday frenzy and make things EASIER and SAFER for the buying public.  That's when their sales will really improve in a meaningful way!

Wow, that is unbelievable and truly sad.  It's is crazy to see those mobs of people. I never go out in those crowds. The store really should have more than one person opening the door. They should have had security there knowing how those crowds are going to be. I feel really sorry for that man's family.

Lets just hope it is an urban legend and not at all true, did they give details as to the actual store?

So very sad, isn't it?

Mary, not an urban legend.  It happened at the Valley Stream store on Long Island.

Heartbreaking.  I haven't gone shopping on Black Friday for years and years.  It is unimaginable that people would behave that way.  Disheartening, for sure, that such a thing could happen.  But remember that there are also those that would do anything in their power to help someone in need.  Don't give up on the human race just yet.

I have never shopped on Black Friday because of stories I had heard of people fighting over 1 item. This just proves that people have no respect for another human being. I was appalled by this story.

It is hard to believe this story.  I am not doubting you but I am shocked and appalled.  Black Fridays have never been my thing and now I have another reason.

It boggles my mind that there are brave men and women in Iraq and Afghanistan giving their lives for this country, and then there are men and women in this country killing a man for things--for useless things that can neither bring happiness, nor freedom, nor safety.

This is a very terrible situation and I hope Wal Mart gets sued.  They only care about their bottom line and not their employees.  This is a mob situation, they need to have police presence or security on events like these.  It should not take a death to realize the mistake that could of been prevented.  I'm sorry to be coming off a little aggrevated.

There are a lot of idiots in mankind but I believe there are quite a few prayers to be said for a very big group who do a lot of good!
