Stage your yard! Man made the birdfeeder------God made the squirrel!

We had finally found, we thought, a truly squirrel-proof bird feeder.  Lasted all winter with nothing but birds.  Then the spring squirrel crop was born.  We had not counted on baby raiders getting into the sunflower seed.

Does he not look guilty?  Not that I would actually try anthropomorphizing, but he does look like he got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.  He is an innocent, but just another way nature humbles my opinion of myself.

We will miss him when he is too big to fit through the 1" wire squares.  The birds will be grateful.

Yesterday a  cat tried to eat him, rather catch him first, and then eat him but as the cat chased the little one up the tree the cat was stuck with all four paws hugging the tree for dear life.  Harry, the cat(he is mute) couldn't get up or down and the little rascal came down the tree, barked at he cat just beyond the cat's nose and ran up the tree again. Our neighbor's cat had to back down the tree without so much as a bite of the quarry he had stalked for so long.  There is something different about this squirrel!  He should be well equipped to dodge the foxes, the hawks and the new crop of ferile cats who don't have the luxuries that Harry enjoys!

Thanks for this blog Carol. Animals are like children. As soon as you say they can't do something they prove you wrong. lol

Carol, I even had my daughter come in from the other room to see this. How cute. How in the world were you able to get the photo? Thanks for showing us.

Hi, Carol!  Love this picture!  I used to feel the squirrels at a previous home.  Sometimes the birds would eat the food.  I didn't mind and never tried to find a bird-proof feeder.  ;o)  Thanks for the cute post!
