December 20, 2008 ~~A young man from Allyn, WA summits his first peak on his journey of his dreams. There are no mountains to high and no dreams too big.... ~~
I was not going to post a blog on this until it actually happened- December 20th is the big day - (I know you say what? Christmas is the 25th. But this year, Christmas will be even more special because of this once in a lifetime celebration on the 20th).
December 20th my son, Sean Spaulding, graduates from Western States Chiropractor School in Portland Oregon after 6-1/2 years of study between there and undergraduate school at Eastern in Spokane, WA. Are we excited? Oh you bet! You have no idea. You have no idea of how proud we are of this young man. It is his turn to shine and celebrate as he summits one peak and continues life's journey of his dreams.
Inspiration? He is our inspiration. Here is a young man - 24 years old ready to venture out into the big bad world and his enthusiasm and positive attitude are what have pushed me through this year. It has been very difficult as parents to not dwell on the gloom and doom of the naysayers and the economy, the fear of choices, the lack of money and so much more. This kid has looked past all of that and is ready to grab the world by the horns like no other! He is following his dreams...
He never stuttered, faltered or questioned his choice of careers. he just kept plunging forward. He stayed throughout the summers to achieve his goal sooner than most and stuck with it. He has GROWN (physically as well) and his growth, his ambition, his perseverance, his positive attitude are all contagious. He is EXCITED TO BE A PART OF SOCIETY AND GIVE WHAT HE CAN TO IT! It amazes me with all of the turmoil in the country and the world right now how he can keep up and keep moving forward without being discouraged.
This past quarter he has spent interning and working on business plans, deciding locations, passing National Boards, licensing, and establishing his future dreams! It is so difficult as a parent sometimes to not criticize and question his choices but to guide him along to find his own answer without expressing any strong objection directly but relaying it as an opinion for him to use as "food for thought" and apply it how he sees fit.
I don't think I can disclose the location of his choice to set up practice yet because I do not know if he has officially sealed that deal, but I do know he is going full speed ahead with that dream and no matter what the economy does or what tries to get in his way, he will find a way to persevere and move forward with his dreams and goals in site. He is heading there at 100MPH's!
His dreams don't stop on December 20th - they only just begin as he continues his climb up the mountain of success. There will be many mountains but there are no mountains too high for this young man and no dreams to big.
"Sean, you are an inspiration and joy to have in our lives. We are very proud of you. And we know that your journey in life no matter how high the mountain or how big the dream - you will make it . Always remember to continue your climb as there are no mountains too high and keep following your dreams as there are no dreams too big."
"We love you! "
