Ago - Los Angeles restaurant

There are some great restaurants situated on trendy and prestigious Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood.

There's Comme Ca, Taste and Luques to name a few. And then there's Ago - probably the best Italian restaurant in the area and one of the finest in Los Angeles.

Ago is bustling and busy and a favorite of celebrities. Owned by Robert De Nero and the Weinstein brothers, Argo is named for its chef Agostino Sciandri.

For starters I recommend the Insalata di Carciofi - delicious baby artichoke frisee with shaved parmesan, or the Burrata, a decadently creamy mozzarella served with green beans. The bread basket featured crunchy olive bread accompanied with an outstanding virgin olive oil.

For the main course I loved the Filetto di Salmone alla Griglia - grilled salmon in a lemon and caper sauce, served with giant green asparagus - is one of the most delicious salmon dishes I've ever had. Their pasta choices are equally good, and they also serve simple pizzas.

There's a tempting selection of desserts including a heavenly chocolate tart, bite-sized cannolis with berries, or cheesecake.

The exceptional food and highly attentive staff makes dining at Ago a wonderful and memorable experience.

Sounds delicious!  Maybe next time that we're in Los Angeles!

Thanks for the recommendation, Stewart.  Bobby D and Chef Sciandri opened an Ago Restaurant here at the Hard Rock Hotel a few months ago.  We've been meaning to check it out, now we at least have some more motivation!

I had a really disappointing experience at Ago this Valentine's Day.

The restaurant was packed beyond its regular capacity, resulting in squashed tables and bad service.

Management also raised their menu prices to ridiculous levels ..... $52 for a T-bone steak and $20 for a green salad. What irked me most was a 20% gratuity automatically added to the bill.

All in all, it resulted in an unsatisfying experience!
