The Art of Trees

By

This is a tree in a field near my home, it's located in Bellevue on Highway 18 between McMinnville and Sheridan.  The field is kiddy corner from the Lawrence Gallery, The Fresh Palate Cafe and the Bellevue Market and Oregon Wine Tasting Room.  A newcomer to the corner is Wine Country Glassworks, which I plan to visit soon.

This tree is very cool- it's actually two trees that grew side by side and work together to make one tree.  I found the image to be so compelling, I turned it into a piece of art.  I call it The Marriage Tree.  My medium is cut paper, paint, nails and wood, please visit my website to see more images.

I loved this image so much, I used this image on my business card.  If you want me to send you one, email me your address and I'll send it off!

I met another local artist, Walt Mendenhall, who did the same image years ago of the same tree.  Interestingly, he called it The Wedding Tree.  Spooky.  Apparently this tree inspires many people.  I stopped by the homeowner's house and gave her a card and let her know how much I appreciate her tree and asked she never cut it down!

I like your artistic rendition even better than the real tree!  What a beautiful business card - memorable.  Since I'm a native Oregonian I never appreciated what beauty the trees gave our countryside until traveling to other states!

I can see why you found this tree captivating.  Trees do add enormous beauty to the landscape and our lives.

Kim, I really enjoyed your art work and your story of the trees inspiration for you and the other artist who called it the wedding tree. A fellow romantic no doubt. The world is a better place because of trees, artists, and romantics.
