Ovens Auditorium has been one of the focal points of Charlotte's arts and entertainment for more than 50 years. It is owned operated by the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority (CRVA) of the City of Charlotte.  It sits right next to Charlotte's oldest colluseaum, Independence Arena.

Both of these things venues were built in a location that, at the time was considered way outside of town.  Isn't everything like that though? There are places I visit in Charlotte nowadays that I would have considered way out of town, but are now not so far it seems.  Charlotte just keeps growing, which is great for real estate.  There are more options and the list just keeps getting longer.

Ovens auditorium hosts all kinds of acts.  You may have seen my earlier post about former Talking Head's star David Byrne visiting Ovens, but the mix of acts it hosts are ecclectic. Yesterday, John Legend came to play music there.

Ovens seatse 2,700, so it's the perfect place to see a musical act that isn't right for an amphitheater or an arena.  It has hosted over 7,000 events over the years.

When you get to Charlotte, make sure you check out Ovens' schedule. You'll be glad you did.
