Several of the calls that I have received recently have started with the question: 'Are you still doing closings?' I assure the caller that I am.
These calls are mostly from companies that I have never worked with. My guess is that they have called other notary signing agents and discovered that the person is no longer doing closings.
It's a fact: Many notary signing agents have left the profession as the number of closings have decreased dramatically. But many of us are able to stay in business, and we need to let companies know this.
One of the best and easiest ways is to update your profile on the notary sites. Several sites will automatically indicate when the profile was updated. If the website doesn't insert the date for you, then manually input it. I added this to my SigningAgent.com profile today:
This way a person reading your profile will know that you are still in the business.
Another way is to launch an email campaign. Let clients know that you are still doing closings, and that you would appreciate a call from them if they ever have a closing in your area.
And be sure to let them know that you have passed a background screening. List any other qualifications that you have.
Just this morning I visited the website of a company that I haven't heard from in a while. I submitted a new vendor application. Consider doing this if you haven't heard from a company in a while. Or give them a call and see if they are still in business.
Revitalize your business by renewing the relationships you have with your clients. And add new clients in the process. Let them know that you're alive, well, and still in business.
Good luck.
P.S. And cherish the business that you are currently getting.
