I have a wonderful horse, Cricket. Not as pretty as Snowy...not at all! She's got that 'Roman Nose' and is very stocky. She's just the greatest horse...my 5 year old grandaughter just won 3 events with her this summer. Aren't they just the greatest!!! Grandaughters aren't too bad either.
Thanks so much for showing your joy!
Hi Terrie, Even tho I have just a 4 stall I put mats in my grooming aisle & closed the end with a gate panel this made a 5th 'stall' so no-one would have to live outside. My tiny 10.2 hand Blonde Shetland pony lives there.
Hi Robin (Gold Star Realty), It is so cool to have an appropriate horse for a child. They are worth their weight in gold! As a 4H leader I've seen some parents buy their child a fancy show horse then be upset when the child wasn't winning enough ribbons. It's really about learning to care for & ride a horse, a ribbon is fun - just icing on the cake.

Marian I love to look at horses, had a horse in 4-H when I was a kid....this is one beautiful horse, I really like the freckles and the tail coloring..thanks for posting this, it brings back lots of memories.
I don't have any horses, but one day would love to own a home overlooking someone elses pasture! What lovely pictures ~ looking forward to more of your Wordless Wednesday photos!
Indeed, Snowy is a beautiful horse. I love the black on the face. Reminds me of a Siamese cat.
Hi Bonnie, Thanks for visiting. Most grays are born dark colored. They turn lighter with age. 1st dapple gray, then white, later 'freckled' like Snowy. I'm glad that you were in 4H as a kid. It's a great program for kids to learn responsibility and have fun too! I would like to be a 4H leader again, It's had to give that much of a time committment when I spend so much time on my business and 5 horses!
Hi Jeannie, I'm glad that you enjoyed the pictures. Horses are so lovely to watch. I built my Ann Arbor, MI horse farm a few years ago and I get great pleasure just looking at my horses romping or peacefully grazing in their pastures. I work with many clients who want to live next door to a horse farm so that they can watch the horses so you are not alone in wanting that too!
Hi Russell, People consider Snowy to be an especially pretty boy. The dark face markings are common with certain horse colors. I hadn't thought about the similarity to Siamese cat markings. I know from your partner's blog that you love kitties. I have a blue point Siamese named Lilly. She looks like the old fashioned Siamese cat called the 'apple' head because of her round face & curvy, not angular body.
Hi Mary, Sadly Snowy has a bone chip in his hoof so it can't be removed, thus he is now a pretty 'pasture ornament'. I've been treating it for 2 1/2 years, it may take another 2 years to heal. Wish me luck!
Marian Snowy is absolutely gorgeous. It is so sad that he is out of commission!
Hi Tami, Thanks. I think he's pretty too! He's got a face that we call "to die for" in the horse biz.
Marian, These photos are great and now that you blog I can see your granddaughter and the beauties you have. Wow, how pretty.
I was a 4H leader too and the club was Brand X. Which club were you a leader? How cool is this?
Hi Karen, Thanks for the kind words! That is my neice, Angel. She just turned 14 & went to the 4H state show this fall (for the 1st time!) She did well in English, Western and placed reserve champion out of the entire show & age categories in the Trail Class. It was cool to be there and cheer her on. I was a 4H leader for my little sister (she is 11 years younger than me & is Angel's Mom) that was when I lived in the west side of the state. I slao used to run a non-profit horse farm for Congressman Paul Todd. It was a great experience, to help the kids learn how to care compassionately for their horses.

Hi Debra, Yes. Snowy is a flea-bitten grey. He was born solid, then turned dappled, then flea-bitten. Some horses only get a few 'freckles' others (when they are aged) are so freckled that they look almost solid colored. It sounds like you are a horse girl (?)

I know a Realtor here who shows horses. Actually, I think he spends more time showing horses than he does being a Realtor, but he also specialized in horse properties.
Today is the first day of the rest of your life -- make it a good start.
Hi Jim, I appreciate the sentiment. Horses can consume one's life, if you let it. It's fun and challenging to have such a huge, graceful aminal work with you as a partner at the horse show. I plan to show my Dutch horse in Dressage next summer. Be well.
