This is week 4 in my 52 weeks of Thanksgiving series and this week I will express my thanks for my grandson, Daniel.
Just when I was thinking I might never be a grandfather, my son and daughter-in-law announced they were expecting and in October of the that year Daniel, my one and only grandchild, was born.
He was three years old in October and is all the stereotypes of an active boy and a handful for his mother and father.
When he was born it was an amazing instant love that I only remember from when my daughter and son were born. It was the same for my wife, who is not the mother of my children.
We don't get to see him often, Daniel and his parents live across Puget Sound from Seattle and we live diagonally across the country from them. But, we love the time we get to spend with them. We love getting pictures and hearing everything about him.
He has started pre-school and we have been signed up for the program where we can log in and see what he is learning and what he has done at school.
We won't be seeing him this Christmas because of economic considerations, but we are looking forward to seeing him again soon after. We are very thankful that the grace of God has brought him into our lives.
