Must Read: Why we're in the mess we're in.

My brother and I were visiting during our New Years party for my family.

The discussion turned to what's going on in the economy and how we got to where we are.

He reminded me of an 8th grade book that our kids had used in school.

It describes in very simple terms how economies work and the impact of government involvement in financial decisions.

BookI strongly encourage everyone to read: What Happened to Penny Candy?  by Richard J. Mabury.  It gets a 5 star review on Amazon.

If you care to order it, you can get it on Amazon here.

Bottom line, there's no such thing as a free lunch, and we're going to be finding out how much our failing "bail-out" will cost our kids.

Also, if you haven't seen this explanation of how this is all going to work out, check out this video.

It explains everything in Washington speak.  Happy New Year!

Mark: Wear hip waders to the inauguration!

Gary: Commen sense America went right out behind it.  The copies should be bought for American voters.  They've just screwed themselves royally.  Can't blame the politicians for doing what comes naturally, but you can blame the voters for putting them there.

Mike, I liked this....penny candy is certainly not around anymore. Things have definitely changed; though there seems to be a free lunch for "some," it penalizes the rest of us. ;-)
