A Better YOU Is A Force To Be Reckoned With

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty 0575737

Crashing WavesWith our new year resolutions made and probably forgotten about by this time in the month, I am reminded in all we do to ask ourselves the BIG WHY. What is the WHY of the situation? In creating business plans or selecting resolutions the big why answer is to make something better in your life. Better than the past. But when you actually visualize accomplishing what you had hoped to and set upon that path, with a little ego in the back of our mind we were really thinking

A Better YOU Is A Force To Be Reckoned With.

Think of that. Practicing confidence makes people believe you can handle the storms directed your way. A slimmer, fitter you will surprise your friends with your new found energy and strength. A friendlier you will have more people attracted to you.

Much of getting where you want to go is about visualization. Many use affirmations daily to pump themselves up. But there's nothing like a "picture" of the new YOU and what you are accomplishing in your mind to know what you are headed toward. Work hard at that visualization. If you can see the shot you can make the shot. Fake it till you make it.

The world needs the new YOU as a force to be reckoned with. You are awesome already. You just have to believe it yourself. This is your year. Not sometime. Now. Please whatever you do this year, GO FOR IT!!!

"This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being thoroughly worn out before being thrown on the scrap heap; the being a force of nature instead of a feverish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy." ~George Bernard Shaw

Hi Gary, This is a great post.  Although I don't really like the phrase: fake it till yo make it, the way most people use it (sounds like they are scamming someone), I like the concept the way you mean it.  It's like self-talk and if you convince yourself that you are in a good mood and successful, you will be.  It's hard to stay in a bad mood when you are smiling and acting happy.

And when I think of visualization, I always remember the way Dwight Stones used to do the high jump.  He would stand there at the starting spot and focus intently on the bar, but then he would bob his head and plan each step he would take in his approach and the jump, going through that 3 or 4 times, then take off and do it exactly as he had visualized it.  He said that by the time he actually jumped, he could have done it with his eyes closed because he had "practiced" it in his mind so that it was simple to do.

Gary, Thanks for the motivation! New agents like myself need all the positive mentors we can get. At least we can truthfull say "It's the best year in real estate I have ever had" :). A positive attitude certainly goes a long way...one of the reasons you smile before answering the phone. Nothing good ever came from negative thinking, and even though my father's joking creedo was, "optimists just aren't paying attention", a positive attitude will draw like minds and attitudes toward it....and clients!

Gary! This is genius. Visualization really works when you want something. It also gives us something to fight for. I love my little girls so much and they are my strength when it's tough, but whenever I make a decision, I visualize giving them away to a righteous man and seeing their achievements as women and human beings...Don't get me wrong, I'm terrified of them growing up, but seeing the picture in my mind and knowing it is possible, just brings me the courage and the impulse I need to make a decision and quickly act on it. Thank you, my friend, you are unbelievable!

"Much of getting where you want to go is about visualization." AMEN! This not some mamby-pamby new age drivel and it's amazing how we draw to ourselves what we think and visualize! Have a good week!

Gary, Keep em coming! I am amazed at all the dejected attitudes out there when it comes to real estate. Yes it's challenging but, as Midori Miller said recently, this IS our market and we need to adapt to it.  Besides, what's the alternative? Walk around being depressed all day? because of real estate? I don't think so.

Gary - I usually make and try to stick to my resolutions at the end of January because I otherwise the post-holiday stuff gets in the way. I find that I need to de-compress before thinking about a change of habits or implementing new stuff. And, especially when it involves going to the gym. Ever notice how the gym is crowded in the first 2-3 weeks of the year and until interest dies down and people are back to their old habits?

Gary,

Great post.

I think what makes people be able to re-invent themselves is what they are able to do on a regular basis.

It's not just about writing goals down, although I do this EVERY day, it's how you attach emotion to these goals in every minute of every day.
