Remember when???

By
Real Estate Agent with Florida Homes Realty & Mortgage

Today I was sitting an open house in a home that was built in 1940...something and thought about this..

Remember when homes with a 1 car attached garage were considered "Big Money"

Rememeber when most homes were made out of brick...

Remember when the only phone in a house was in the hallway sitting on a built in shelf..

Remember when 1 bathroom per house was the norm..

Remember when a window A/C unit was a luxury and only got turned on when your parents had dinner guest..

Remember when the medicine cabinets had slots in the back for disposing of used razor blades..

Remember when the only source of heat was a fuel oil heater centrally located in the house and on cold nights that's where everyone gathered....generally in the hallway.

Hi,

I don't 'remember when' since my parents weren't even born in the 1940's, but my aunt lives in a home with radiator heat and no central air.  They turn the AC on when guests come over and I love their house so much!  It originally only had one bathroom but they have renovated it to include another bathroom but the crafsmanship and details in her house are so beautiful and unlike any home I have lived in.

Hi Mike and Cindy

I really enjoyed reading your blog and one additional thing I think a lot of people would like to return  to the good old days.

Good luck and success

Dear Mike and Cindy,

I remember when and still sell properties that make those things look like modern conveniences.

I sell a lot of historic homes. Does a bedroom normally have a closet?
