I am affiliated with Remax Select Reatly yet got invited to a Keller Williams " SHIFT " seminar.

It was very good, we talked about;

I also found out that this seminar is a 9 week course, we will meet every Friday at noon.

I will try to make all the meetings and let you know what is going on.

GOALS-  What is your main real estate goal?  Is it a certain amount of money by the end of the year ( That is my goal ), or a certain number of listings, or sales, maybe its to generate a certain number of referrals?  What ever it is MAKE it stick.  You can do that by using the 1,3,5 rule.
The 1,3,5 rule is; Have 1 main goal -- mine is to make $55,000 GCI.  Now on that main goal, what are the 3 most important aspects/activities that will help you reach that goal -- mine would be networking ( I am a new member of a networking org), prospecting and my SOI.  With those 3 most important aspects.activities have 5 activities to help each of those 3.--- mine would be to long to type out, but you get the idea.
WRITE OUT EVERYTHING !!!!!
And you dont say I will make $55,000 , ( My example) you have to say I AM DOING $55,000.  I will is a wish, and I AM means you are already doing it AND it tells the subconscious mind what to strive and drive for.

RESPONSIBILITY-  The ability to response appropriately.  The definition says it all.  Under promise and over deliver.  On missed calls, call them back ASAP -- dont put it off -- when you put them off, they feel you blow them off.

thInk- Yea you saw that right -- The I is in the middle and larger than the other letters cause YOU are in the middle of your thinking.  What you thought about and did in the past is why you are where you are today.  You are in control of your thought so you are in control of your future.  And when you say you cant because... instead --  be the causeof why you can.  You are still saying because but in dramatic differences.

MLS-In our area roughly about 6% of agents have left the business in 2008. That is alot, if we can hunker down in the rough times and learn to adapt to the situation, we will see more agents leaving the business and that is less competition in the future.   Learn to work the MLS stats to our favor.  In 2007 my area had 18,729 transactions and in 2008 there were 15,732, that is a 16% drop in sales - do you think you can use that to your advantage to get the right price with your sellers?  If you are putting your email on the MLS and it ends in; yahoo, hotmail, gmail, etc  the buyers and sellers are thinking that you are not professional.  You need to have your email in your web site i.e. stevewarrene@WesternPaRealEstate.com.  I will admit that I dont have that set up yet, ( I am going to look into that) They say it will also promote your website and draw more traffic to your site.

60 MINUTES-60 minutes a week step out of yourself and your life and just think.  That = about 8.5 minutes a day, go to a quiet place ( Not your desk or work area) and close your eyes and completely clear your thoughts.  Do not think of work, life, success, pain, anything at all.  There are 1440 minutes aday, you can spare 8.5 minutes aday for yourself, cant you?

Different outcomes DEMAND different thinking !!  Focus on where your going, not where you at.

I agree with you.  SHIFT is a great book and I feel it should be a MUST READ for all agents in today's market. I am not done with it either but dedicated myself to reading an hour a day.  Its much better than TV.  I hope that it helps you alot and you implement the principles.

Steve, this is an excellent post.  KW does a great job of motivation and positive ideas.  But here in CA, you can't even make a mortgage payment on $55,000 per year!  The cost of living here is about DOUBLE everywhere else.

KW is pretty good, and they were very polite to let in others from other companies to enter their seminar.  As for the $55k, around here thats ok, Your median home price is probally 5x the price here.  Your probally have better weather also.  Have fun out there.
