There are a bunch of places in Charlotte that you can find yourself in TV land. Circut city is closing its doors after getting beat at its own game by best buy and the market downturn. If you hurry you might be able to score a good deal there. There is one on South Boulevard in the Starmount neighborhood. It is south of South End I haven't been by recently though to see if it was still open.
As you move further out into the suburbs, Costco and Sam's club have their share and Best Buys are abundant.
Closer in to the city there is a local chain called Queen City TV and appliance. Somehow, these folks have managed to stay in business with some pretty stiff competition from these huge national chains. I've been to one, and they are worth checking out. They really have some good deals that you might not expect from a local chain, and they have people there who know their business and can help you choose a set.
