Tough economic times and tightening of budgets could translate into the Olathe School District losing almost $3.4 million dollars in state funds for 2009. The state of Kansas needs to find a way to cut almost $300 million from their total budget and the Olathe school system could be just one of many organizations feeling the effects.
According to the Olathe schools, the first steps would be a hiring freeze for all open positions, reduced professional development for staff; cancellation of conferences and other program costs.
