And the Best Romantic Movie of All Time Award Goes to...

In honor of Valentine's Day, I just had to blog about my favorite romantic movie of all time. I realize there are a plethora of well-made and touching romantic movies out there, but for me, there's no competition. Hands down, my favorite romantic movie ever is and always has been Somewhere in Time.

Somewhere in Time Movie Cover

Christopher Reeve, Jane Seymour, a tale of love that transcends time, a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack... how can you possible get any better than that? It's been over 28 years since this movie was made, and for me, there's still no other that can touch it.

To this day, when I hear the theme to Somewhere in Time or the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paginini, I start to tear up. The soundtrack to this movie touched me more than any other.

I can't even explain how beautiful the plot line is to this movie, or how wonderfully it was directed and acted. It's just something you need to experience for yourself.

If you haven't seen Somwhere in Time, prepare for the most touching and magical 103 minutes of your life. Just make sure you have some tissues nearby.

So... what's your favorite romantic movie? Convince me!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Hi Kristen, Can't say as I've seen it but I wonder if I read the book.  I became obsessed with time travel books after reading Jack Finney's Time and Again which I highly recommend. Have to check this out...

Liz, my mother loves that book, but I've never read it. I'll have to take the time to do that! I know this movie is based on a book called Bid Time Return... which I've also never read! Time to get to the library!

I loved the Scottish film Local Hero -- when the Texan wants to give away the porsche, the condo, the great job, if only he can have Stella and the pub, it's a "classic".

Now, Voyager and Sleepless in Seattle.  The first has mistimed love, misunderstanding, paralysis, reconciliation and Carey Grant.  The other has Meg Ryan, Tom Hanks, distance, missteps and the unstoppable faith of a little boy.

Kristen,  That's so funny that I saw your post on Somewhere in Time.  I just saw it last night on TV for the first time on a special Valentines Day showing with lots of information about the Grand Hotel where it was filmed.  I've heard about it for years and have always wanted to see it.  It was a wonderful and very romantic movie.  I loved it!!!  It is definitely now in my top two or three favorite romantic movies.

Li, I've never even heard of that film, but I love pretty much anything Scottish. Thanks for the suggestion!

Dianne, I do love Sleepless and Seattle! I've never seen Voyager. Another one to add to the list!

Vicki, I wish I had seen thay special on the Grand Hotel! I've always wanted to visit and learn about its history. I'm so glad you enjoyed the movie, too!!
