I-Phone for Business?

By
Real Estate Agent with Florida Homes Realty and Mortgage

National Speaker and Mobile Technology Guru, Dick Betts, recently wrote about five things a REALTOR needs to have with them even when out of the office:

Email - remember when we checked our email once every few days?  Now people send you and email and call 10 minutes later wanting to know if you got it yet.

Web - maybe you don't think this is important but once you have it you will never go without it.  Looking something up or quickly answering questions for clients is expected

Listings - this can turn into an embarrassment, the clients in the back seat can have listing information and you don't.  Every agent needs MLS information 24/7 and telling people to wait until we get back to the office just doesn't get it.

Cell Phone

Contact and Time Management - how can you keep yourself organized when you're away from your office without it?  Keep your appointments and contacts in your hand no matter where you are.

Other programs - whether it's your calculator, voice recorder, having your Microsoft documents, camera and learn what you already have in your mobile device and learn it.

The Mobile Technology available now is amazing!!  I purchased an I-phone last year and find that it does not offer (or I just can’t figure it out) many of the features Dick recommends.

Any advice out there?  Anyone using an I-Phone for business?

iPhone is the bomb. New one coming out in June that will be even better. If you can't wait ATT is selling 8g refurbs for $99. This is as close to a mini computer that is on the market today at a cost that rivals all.

Good post

(O, yea, I use a iPhone. Tired all the others. Can't beat it)

Marjorie,

I have an iPhone and can do everything on your list very easily. The only thing that it doesn't do is MMS natively, but even that can be accomplished with a very inexpensive app.

Hi Marjorie, I live in Nashville and most of the geek community here uses one. My wife has one as well and uses hers for everything that pretty much she can do with her computer. I think she has like 1over 100 apps. I will keep my crappy PDA for a little longer though until I can get more value, it cost a lot of money and the plan I have from Sprint is simply too good to get away from, at least for the time being....

I am glad I talked with Dick before I bought it.  I was thinking about it until I talked to him and he advised me to stay away.  He did a blog on the new Trio not too long ago.  I might have to get that.  I am using a Blackberry now.  Talk to you soon.
