I was "Googled"

By
Real Estate Technology with Virginia Beach

Twice this week I had customers actually tell me that they did "Google" me to find out more information.  One customer actually was looking me up online as I was taking his application so that he could find out who I was.  After about 15 minutes of going through it with him online and even pointing him to my blog he was quite impressed and I did get his full application.

google

This can be a very powerful tool in your favor or against you.  Keep in mind the kind of information that you write and what others write about you.  Luckily, I know that I haven't written anything that I would be ashamed of a customer finding out or reading.

The customer today asked if she could be my friend on Facebook and is now probably going to read this blog.  It is a great practice for us to remind our customers about our blogs so they can keep up with us and our industry.

WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF YOUR CUSTOMER "GOOGLED" YOU??

I was worried that when people would search my name they would get my dad's information that's why I use my middle name.  He was a not so great a person jail time and all.

Gotta have the Google!  I have noticed that since I have started this active rain blogging (and other blogs) that those entries show up before my company's website listing of me, etc.  It was quite amazing to me!  'Course you can't throw in an extra "d" after the "E" in my last name to get it right... :)

Keith - that has got to be tough to deal with especially if they look you up online.

Natalie - Yep! It is only our reputation at stake!

Debbie - I at least it is all good stuff! :)

Robert - I agree.  It is how consumers are getting information before they work with you.  They are doing alot of research online about you.

Tristan - Congrats on your google positioning!

Tony - Thanks for commenting! It is something I think we should all be aware of

Justin - It is great when you can tell your customers who are on the fence - just tell them to "google" me!

Lee - Congratulations! It can be a selling tool!

We have gotten sales and rentals because (so the Owners told us) we were the only ones or the primary ones showing up on Google. If they actually Google our name we're all over the page.

I use my online presence as my secondary marketing so that after I meet someone they can google me or go to ActiveRain to find me. It's just my way of doing things so that I don't have to try to play the SEO game to get ranked #1 or on page 1. After all, there are a few billion people playing the SEO game, so I fall into the Warren Buffet camp: "If everyone is doing something, do something else."
