Doing It Nice And Slow...

By
Real Estate Agent with I.V.P.G. - Inland Valley Professional Group

Hi All,

Well, yesterday was a good day, I spent most of it doing nothing and doing it nice and slow.  I have been advised by agents much more seasoned than I (I was going to say older and wiser but decided that was not the best way to put it) that I should start now to schedule one day a week where I don't do anything Real Estate related.  Yesterday was my day.

For the first time in months, I was home before my husband,I didn't put on business clothes or makeup, in truth I don't really wear "business clothes, per se, I tend to be more of a jeans/casual clothes type (I am sure you never would have guessed that from my picture, right?) so I got to wear my blue jeans instead of my black jeans.  I slept in, ate breakfast at home instead of having something shoved through my car window, got my car washed and even got to meet a friend for an impromptu lunch.

It was a good thing I got all that relaxing done because my world is about to implode.  As of today, I am now going to learn how to Transaction Coordinate, will be working somewhat part-time for my Team Leader, will be doing all of the virtual tours and photography for one of the top agents in my office (and anyone else that wants to hire my services) and I will be, hopefully putting together my first offer on Saturday.  I will also be covering for another agent in my office while they are out of town for a couple of days so if they get any calls or need someone to show their property, I will get the call and if they don't have any representation, I have been told that they will be mine for the working.

Actually, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to not only learn new things, but also to be able to have a little bit of additional revenue coming in until I have deals in the hopper.  I am also trying to decide what my next city tour will be.  Since Sunday is Mother's Day, I am thinking that my hubby and I might head out for a short road-trip.  Not sure where, but it will be fun.

Take care all, have a great day and help lots of people... Oh and to everyone of Mexican descent Feliz a Dia De Las Madre's on May 10th!

P.S. Please don't forget to cast your vote for week four of Project Blogger.  As usual, I truly don't care who you vote for, I just want to see that every interested party votes!

Taking a day just for you is a big deal. It keeps you sane. Being one of the old... er..seasoned... no... lets try Vintage... agents, I actually try to give myself 2 days a week - its almost like being normal! (Almost)

Hi Robert,

Two days!! You get two whole days!! I am quit4e sure that it would take more than two whole days to get me anywhere close to normal.  I don't think I have been in the same continent as normal, let alone in the same neighborhood.  Ahh, well, yet another thing to aspire to!  Thanks for the comment!

Take care, and have a great day!

Tisza -

Good for you, taking a day off!  I really need to do that.  Even when I'm not at the office, I seem to be doing things related to real estate.  Active Rain being one of them.  I've used my days off to go out and take pictures of Historic Neighborhoods and write posts.  (Hummmm - one full day no real estate - not sure I know how to do that one.)

I love your posts!

Hi All,

I hope everyone is having as lovely a day as we are here in Sunny Southern California!

Mott - My ultimate goal is to emulate another very successful agent in my office who spends four hours each morning working and then has the rest of his day free.  It must be working pretty well, as he currently has about 15 listings and is well on his way to beating his previous year's numbers.

Scott - Thank you for the encouragement, I am assuming that you already voted for week four, right?

Cynthia - I know what you mean, I must confess, even though I was not "at the office" I still had my name-tag firmly affixed to my shirt, and was gathering information for future blog posts.

This really is a pervasive and all consuming business, but the reward for a job well done - that of a satisfied client for life who you have helped on their way toward building wealth is well worth the time invested.

And I am very pleased to hear that you enjoy what I write.  Having people enjoy and respond in such positive ways to my contributions is a very gratifying experience.

Mary - I am quite sure that you could give me lessons on how someone who is really busy actually manages to get it all done!  After fourteen years in the business, I bet/hope that you have learned how to pace yourself somewhat better than I seem to be at this point.   Have a wonderful time in Boston.

Take care, help lots of people and have a wonderful day!
