A conference is only as good as the good ideas you take away and put to use. One of the best is "Tell me something good." rather than asking people "How are you doing?" I've started doing it and it works.

Clint Swindall, President and Ceo of Verbalocity, Inc. was one of the keynote speakers at the recent KW Family Reunion gathering of reatlors across the country. He's author of ENGAGED LEADERSHIP: Building a Culture to Overcome Employee Disengagement. It's  all about personal accountabilty

Asking colleagues, friends and family to tell you something good, creates awareness and focus on what is positive - it is a choice.

I justed used it with a business colleague who has a deprecating sense of humor, one that I can all too easily share - thinking that I'm beeing funny or at least somehow creating a common bond.

I was listening to how bad things were in the world and how the rich just get richer, and responding to that that I was glad I did not define "rich" solely on the basis of financial worth. when the light bulb turned on -

Tell me something good  I ventured- it was amazing to watch the entire conversation change.

If you haven't read it, pick up a copy and tell me something you liked about the book. :)

That's a great tip.  With all of the negativity coming from the media, we need to be sure to hear the positive whenever we can.

Putting into practice things we know will help with our attitude and overflow into helping our business is key to making it in this economy.  I loved your comment about your attitude not changing anything but YOUR business.  But if we all do that, it will help the overall economy.  Attitude (a good one) is so important.

James, I see that you really don't have enough to do :)

You might enjoy Kindle 2 -  have you check ed it out?

it's amazing how differently so many of us learn - visually, by listening, or experiencing. That's why I love practicing and teaching yoga- and the hotter the better - gets out all the bad mojo that can keep us from being open to new perspectives and ideas.

Practice is it, Tammy, and for me I know it will never be perfect. Again, why I often suggest yoga to realtors - we call it a "practice" becomes no one is every perfect. One thing we can all do is breathe - and while we cannot control the first thought, we can direct the second, creating our attitude. Thanks for taking the time to post.
