One thing I see a lot in the Real Estate industry these days is the re-inventing of oneself. Multiple income streams, people going into the business, people exiting the business. Happening in all areas with REALTORS, Stagers, Mortgage folks, etc.
But one thing I would remind people, and blast this out to them with a VERY LOUD speaker or bullhorn to get their attention,
You Are Not THAT Person Anymore.
Why people think they are wearing concrete shoes and stay stuck in the past with their self image is beyond me? How boring life would be to live like that?
Maybe you were a school teacher in a past life. Maybe you did your stint as a registered nurse for twenty years and then your back gave out.
In the relationship department you have now found yourself as a single Mom. Perhaps you retired as a man and now are a widower. Or you escaped corporate America.
Life is such this journey we all are on. You found yourself becoming a real estate agent, or you dabbled as an interior decorator or went full time into being a Stager.
Where people I think get stuck is they think they must stay in what they define themselves come hell or high water. Who says so?
They start FREAKING OUT. This change stuff is not very fun AT ALL. I want my Mommy.
Your own self-identity has to be one of the biggest limiting beliefs you may have about yourself. Is it good to be comfortable and stable with your identity? Sure. But know that your real identity, your personal identity is MORE than what you do for work. Much more.
You are not the same person you were ten years ago as you are today. Sure the core YOU may still reside in your shell but much of you is different. And if you are old enough enjoy a great laugh, look at pictures of you 20 or 30 years ago.
Hopefully you are improving with time. Now we have the NEW and IMPROVED YOU!
Transformation of YOU into a better you is a good thing.
But remember the key to any kind of transformation of you is that
Only YOU can change YOU.
Be good with that thought and be a positive you zig zagging your way each day to a better personal you and a better at work you. Do not ever keep the baggage around in your head that you can't make more money, you're too old to ride motorcycles, skydive out of airplanes, snowboard in Colorado, or enjoy fruity drinks in Fiji.
The ONE in life to change you is who???
Drumroll please, YOU!
Reminds me of that joke.
How many psychiatrists does it take to change a lightbulb?
Only one, but the lightbulb must really want to change.
You can be anything you want, one day at a time, if you want to change.
