Via Barbara Whisenant - Homes4SaleSanDiego.com (Richard Realty Groups, Inc):

I have a dear friend who has a court order against someone contacting them.  I received a call from my friend who was terribly upset because that person had contacted them with a telephone number they didn't recognize the area code of.  The minute the callers voice was heard, the receiver of the call hung-up and immediately called their cell phone company.

My friend was told that the caller was probably spoofing the call.  Neither of us had ever heard of this.  After some investigation we found a website that offer to mask the callers number with another number in order to make the calls undetected.

I found a website that not only offers the service but also offers a Do Not Spoof Registry.  Well that seems very bold of them.

If anyone knows someone who is being harassed with unwanted phone calls that they can't locate who the telephone number belongs to, might want to go to this website and register. I have no idea if it works or not.

Do Not Spoof

I must be so out of touch.  Too many things happening in the world that I don't know about.

Never heard of the concept. There again there are people with too much time on their hands
