About Me

I'm a native of Charleston, West Virginia, descended from a long line of mountaineers on both sides of my family.  But, I didn't grow up in the mountains.  We lived in the state capitol, Charleston, in the Kanawha River valley, where my family lived over a Kroger store and my playground was the lush WV capitol grounds just a block from home.  Charleston felt safe, kids walked to school and bus service could take us anywhere to far to go on foot.  I've always thought I grew up in Charleston, WV perfectly prepared to live in New York City.  Well, that never happened but John and I lived in Rochester, NY for 11 years.  We also lived on the New Jersey shore and between the two of us, spent time in FL and Hawaii and traveled for business in the southwest.  But, before all that, my family moved to Raleigh NC and John grew up in Morehead city NC.  Fate brought us together one magic fall day in Raleigh, NC in 1979.   Before returning home to eastern NC, our last stop was Atlanta, GA where we began our real estate careers. 

In 2000, I brought a career in retail management to the practice of real estate beginning with John Wieland Homes in Atlanta where I represented Wieland Realty as an on-site agent in new home communities.  When we made the move back to eastern NC and settled in the Wilmington area in 2004, we formed The Femia Team which is really just Bever and John Femia.  

Today, we live in Hampstead, just fifteen minutes from that sandy spot on Topsail Island where I first saw the ocean in 1966 and realized my heart was big enough for the mountains and the sea.   

I love gardening because it's an artistic expression that lets me color outside the lines knowing God will fill in the spots I miss. 

My passion is real estate!  I feel good about being a Realtor® because I recognize the impact purchasing and selling real estate makes on the lives of my clients and believe they need and deserve knowledge!

About John

John brings a career in sales, marketing and data management to The Femia Team.  Licensed since 2002, John began his real esate career in Atlanta, GA.  Returning home to eastern NC gave John the opportunity to bring together a liftime of business experience and a "born and bred here" knowledge of the area.  Long before John began surfing the net, he surfed the Atlantic just blocks from his home in Morehead City.  When he wasn't surfing or in school, he flipped burgers in his families restaurants and learned early on to value the contributions new residents make to our area.  John's father met his mother during WWII and migrated from CT to marry and brought his entrepreneurial spirit to his new home.  The migration of folks from all over the country and all over the world who choose to make their homes here is truly in John's blood. 

He is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and any Carolina sporting event is cause for enthusiam and critique.  Today, golf is a passion and the greater Wilmington area affords many opportunities for play.
