Factory Finishes Are Not So Bad, Are They??? I'm not thrilled to hear a builder's rep say, "We hand finish the flooring with 3 coats of poly-something or other". "The builder "forgot" to notify the buyers, my clients, that they could call an independent home inspector." NOT THE BUILDER'S JOB!! This is the BUYER'S RESPONSIBILITY. Or, if they have an agent, which few new home buyers do, their agent should make them aware of their opportunities for an independent home inspector during the construction process. Buyers who play DIY when spending $hundreds of thousands or $millions of dollars for real estate live in a state of blissful ignorance.
