In the past, Sacramento has had an abundance of amazing events occurring on Labor Day Weekend. But, with the absence of the raucous Old Sacramento Gold Rush Days, and Greek Food festival which have traditionally occurred over the Labor Day weekend, the holiday this year is going to be quieter!
However, The Chalk It Up Festival, one of my favorite annual events, in Sacramento since 1991, will again entertain folks at Fremont Park. The event is family friendly, and features talented volunteer artists who transform the sidewalk squares into chalk masterpieces.
In addition, there are vendors and food, performers, music, and other festival activities. … (13 comments)

Sacramento in past years has been a raucous place on Labor Day Weekend. There wasn’t only the Gold Rush Days in Old Sacramento, which were cancelled this year, we also had The Greek Food Festival, which has been moved to an October date.
However, there is one event that kept the Labor Day Weekend date. It is the “Chalk It Up Festival” which is enjoying its 28th year. The sidewalk artists at Fremont Park do their thing to the delight of the public.
The event is a fun family friendly event, which also features a musical line-up, and food trucks.

In addition to Old Sacramento’s Gold Rush Days and the Greek Festival going on in Sacramento this Labor Day weekend, there is also The 26th Annual Chalk It Up to Sacramento Festival
The Festival is a relaxed low key event, allowing folks to enjoy the creativity of sidewalk artists doing their thing.
The event is a fun family friendly event, which also features a musical line-up, and food trucks.
The event is sponsored by local businesses to support arts education.
