I am a very visual person. This is most apparent in my love for art. I have a real passion for art. Sculpture, paintings, photography, architecture, these are the things that captivate me. Now do not misunderstand, I love music and dance and words as well. In fact it seems that all of the creative arts help to inform one another and are woven together in such a way as to be a mirror of our very world.

This weekend Knoxville celebrates the rich contribution of African Americans to the local art community and the community as a whole with the Kuumba Festival. Begun in 1989 by the African American Appalachian Arts, Inc. the Kuumba Festival highlights the art and artists who help to make our city great. The word kuumba means creativity in Swahili and captures the true spirit of creativity that is expressed in the festival.
