honoring americas true heroes: Snow Canyon State Park - World's Largest Free-Flying U.S.A. Flag 🇺🇸 - 11/15/23 11:12 AM
Snow Canyon State Park - World's Largest Free-Flying U.S.A. Flag 🇺🇸 Traveling up Highway 18 from St. George, Utah toward Snow Canyon State Park, you can see the largest, free-flying flag in America, measuring 150 x 78 feet, totaling 11,700 square feet! Each star is 6 foot tall!  On Veteran's Day,  November 11th, a special ceremony honored all military people. Due to the popularity of the suspended display, it will remain thru the Snow Canyon Half 10K| 5K| Fun Walk n Roll until Sunday, the 19th. This magical, floating flag is mesmerizing as it slowing furls, unfurls, swaying gently in the slight breeze. honoring americas true heroes: Remembering Our Heroes on Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day - 12/07/22 08:11 AM
Remembering Our Heroes on Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

Our sailor son and daughter-in-law were stationed in Oahu, Hawaii, both serving in the United States Navy. We flew over to see them, planning a visit to Pearl Harbor while there. Upon entering the memorial, a video began playing, recounting the incident, the solemn respect was evident.

Silent tears rolled down my face as I prayed for every person who perished on that horrific day in America's history.

Another example of despicable, tyrannical actions from Japan, wanting to destroy the US Pacific Fleet by whatever means. Thankfully, it did not work as they soon realized that … (19 comments)

honoring americas true heroes: A Military Father and Son Memorial Day Story - 05/27/22 07:20 AM
A Military Father and Son Memorial Day Story

Two young men joined the Army, leaving the safety of their family home to valiantly serve the United States of America in separate wars. They were cheered on as heroes, sincere prayers spoken often, for their safe return.

Uncle Robert was held as a Prisoner of War and went Missing in Action during the Korean War, never to be found. I pray they bring him home. Cousin Randy, his only son, a Helicopter Gunner in the Vietnam War, was hit by enemy fire while on a rescue mission. He passed away before the pilot landed.

honoring americas true heroes: What is a true American hero? - 11/11/20 10:35 AM
What is a true American hero?

A hero:
earns the name by stepping up even when in harms way.
proudly wears medals on the uniform rather than numbers.
is measured by service rather than touchdowns or home runs.
celebrates as a team for accomplishing strategically set goals.
bravely faces the unknown by intently meeting it head on.
loves America and willingly fights for all our freedoms.
spends a career in the U.S. Navy and would do it again.
gets up, dresses up and supports God, Country and Family First.
currently lives in our household and is called my husband.
Thank you Michael … (6 comments)

honoring americas true heroes: He came home in a flag-draped coffin. - 05/25/20 08:33 AM
He came home in a flag-draped coffin.

Every year at this time, I get weepy and teary-eyed remembering the promise my cousin made when he left for Vietnam. He said he'd be back. We all had such high hopes that he'd come home alive, we counted on it. The news of his death was devastating for our family. He was the last male Graves to carry his bloodline. Oh, how I loved him so!

Randolph Edwin Graves, an only son and my cousin, died in the Vietnam War. He was a helicopter gunner and was shot while on a recovery mission. Uncle Robert Edwin Graves, Randolph's … (56 comments)
