Come March 2011 the City of Vista, California will be turning the street lights off, property ownes can petition to pay extra for residential street lighting to remain on. Looking to save the City $230,000 a year. Lights are schedule -- to go off on March 13, 2011, property owners will have the ability to submit a petition to the city to not turn the lights off on their street.
The city will tally the number of votes that are turned in on the petitions. But beware if your street petitions to keep the street lights on --- there will be price to be paid. The cost has yet to be determine. Contact the City of Vista to get your petition to stop the street lights from being turned off before March 13, 2011.
Also, to find out which street will be impacted go on the website for the City of Vista. What I find interesting is the city of Vista is cutting back on the expense of provide street lights, which the city of Vista residence paid for with there property taxes, and yet the city plans on buying 2,3 million dollars worth of down town properties. The City of Vista just spend 5.6 million on buying the previous Circuit City land, which will become the new BMW car dealership---- what is so confusing how come the city has all this money to buy property but does not have the ability to keep the street lights on.
