Two Truths and A Lie: Guess which one is the Lie?! This week's featured member - Cece Blase

About time...it's already shopping time for Saturday...where are you Cece? Please Please Please #1.....(at least for Beginner's Luck. as Juli put it. (And I cannot disclose how much I paid to Ralph...lol)

Arrrrgh! I'm so sorry! This holiday weekend got my days of the week all messed up and I am a BAD Active Rainer (Bad, Cece! Bad! Bad!). Truly, I am sorry.

OK, here we go (drum roll, please. . . )

1. TRUE:  I DID have a pet monkey named Caroline when I was a kid. She lasted about two months. My sister's friend Lumpy (yes her name was Lumpy-- a detail too good not to include) gave her to us because Lumpy's family couldn't keep her. We found out why Lumpy's family didn't want her pretty quickly. Caroline was smart and mean and had very sharp teeth. She was very good at getting out of her cage and once while we were gone she got into the medicine cabinet and threw everything all over the bathroom.

2. TRUE:  I CAN touch my elbows behind my back. Actually, I can throw my elbows so far back that it looks like I have no arms from the front. Yes, it does look creepy. And I WILL post a photo, 'for your eyes only' in just a bit.

3. FALSE:  Tennessee Ernie Ford was NOT my Godfather, but he was my next door neighbor when I was growing up in Portola Valley. Actually, he was next door neighbor until they built two houses in between ours and his. We never knew him well and the only contact I really remember having with him was when he took all the kids out Caroling one Christmas in the back of a flat bed truck.

Thanks for all your funny remarks. I have been reading them all week and pitching fits and giggles--  but didn't really know how to chime in without giving away the goods. You guys are a great AR community and I hope you'll forigve my calendrical gaffe!

Two more details about Caroline: 1. She was a squirrel monkey. 2. So the PETA folks don't get too mad at us, we did the best an ignorant mid-century American family could, and retrofitted a large atrium so she could have a friendly little outdoor space (her cage was for sleeping in at night so she wouldn't get too cold). Given what we know now, the whole idea of having Caroline to begin with was pretty foolish.

Sorry-- one more thing. No pics of Caroline are immediately available, but I remember one of her tormenting our very tolerant family dog, Phyllis, whom she took to be her adoptive mother. Her favorite thing to do was cling to Phyllis' belly while Phyllis walked around the atrium. OK, I'll stop now. The PETA folks are NOT amused. . .  

Oh, no. 2 for 4 this month. But at least I'm getting better at this. ARG!!

Hello again. I know I said I'd post a pic of my touching my elbows behind my back, and my husband took one, but I've never seen myself do it from the back and it's really disconcerting-- kind of like one of those chinese acrobats doing a handstand with his legs hanging over his shoulders. I'd rather not subject the general AR community to it. If you simply MUST see email me and I'll send it to you.

Didn't get it this week, but still 3 out of 4 for me this month. Not sure if that is the best.

About your pets, Cece, I read that you had a pony when you were 8, so I discounted the fact that you can also have monkey as a pet. So, despite my hunch for #3, I decided to go for #1.

Ack....my record is staying pretty good. Only 1 correct guess, I really wish I weren't adicted to this game.

Rats!!!  Missed again.  But, I'm not missing the fun of this group and getting to know others.  Can't wait for this week's, Ralph.

THanks, guys. I'm looking forward to seeing who's up this week. Praful, I had a feeling someone was going to dig up that factoid about the pony from an old blog. The pony was just as mean and spiteful as the monkey!

Cece...both of us were 3 for 3 until you 'featured' in this group - so I am glad I did not answer it right (or else I would have been the only winner...whereas there are 6 winners this month, including you - you deserve that for sure.)

About pet -- I should have thought in different direction - if you have a per pony, why not monkey?

Well, next time, when I do my research about the 'truth', I will be little more.....what should I say? careful? thoughtful?
