Make Your Home Look Larger

By

When selling your home, usually you will be rewarded if you make your home look larger.  This does not mean putting an addition onto the house, but it will be to your advantage to make the rooms look larger.  When buyers view your home, they do not like to feel cramped.  It is not necessary to spend a lot of money to make your home feel larger.  There are decorating tricks that can be used to make your home feel more spacious.  If you do not feel comfortable in decorating, you might consider hiring a home stager.  These professionals can advice you, and assist you in making your home more spacious at a reasonable fee.  If done right, you probably will recover your expense when you sell your property.   One of the main things to do is get rid of clutter, and keep the traffic patterns and sight-lines open.  Rid the home of clutter.  This means reducing the number of photos on wall, eliminating area rugs, books, magazines, and reducing the amount of furniture.   Many times it’s better to have a few large pieces of furniture versus many smaller pieces of furniture.    Few other things than will improve openness and spaciousness of the home: repainting some of the rooms with light colors, having curtains and blinds open, and insuring your windows are clean and easy to see the outside.  Finally, you may need to add a lamp in a dark corner of a room.  When your home is open, free from clutter, and easy to move from room to room, potential buyers may be double checking the square footage of the home, because it seems larger than the actual square footage.
