VETERAN'S DAY, 2011
Two years ago we took a River Cruise from Le Havre to Paris on the Seine. Before we departed Le Havre we visited the D-Day Memorial and cemetery in Normandy. Seeing all the crosses and Stars of David lined up like soldiers on the ground of the cemetery was sobering and breathtaking. We happened to be there on Memorial Day and there were ceremonies being conducted commemorating the D-Day invasion and the people who lost their lives during that famous battle. We all spoke in hushed and reverential tones paying tribute to those who died for their country.
Since today is Veteran's Day 2011, I though remembering the D-Day Invasion might be appropriate. Today, we should all thank the men and women in the military now and in the past. We owe them a great debt. Please take a minute out your day to remember our Veterans and active duty military personnel and thank them.
