Being a "foodie" living in Austin we have tried to check out most of the new restaurants in Austin. The newest Indian cafe is Pakwan Indian Restaurant and Bar. Its located in south Austin and I was shocked to find it in a strip mall. This establishment is very classy inside with beautiful crystal chandeliers, gold leaf finishes on the walls, real candles, double cloth table cloths and very attentive service.

The food was delicious, and the waiter even gave us a complementary appetizer. We has the Lamb Saag, Tandoori Chicken, Veggie Samosas, Meat Samosas, Naan and Guleb Jaman for desert. Everything was perfect with reasonable portions and prices.

There is a full bar if you want an adult beverage with your meal. I must say the Indian food was the best I have eaten in the US and my husband agreed. The Indian food in London was the best I have ever had, but it also cost more than three times what we spent at Pakwan, not to mention airfare and hotels while in London! However since I want Pakwan to thrive, I had to share this hidden gem. Once you discover this place you will return often.
