What Makes a Good Father?
Today is Father's Day! I am very fortunate to have four wonderful fathers to celebrate! I have my Biological dad, Leon, who lives in Alabama. I share many wonderful childhood memories with him, and am lucky to have him. I also have my step-dad, Ted, who I get to see and visit with often. He lives here on the Crystal Coast, and I am so proud to have him in my life. When I got married in 2001, I gained another dad in my life, Tom, my father-in-law. He too is wonderful, and I only wish we got to see him more often. He and his wife, Judy, live in Las Vegas.
My favorite dad to celebrate on this special day, is my husband, Roger. When Tan Man and I asked him how he wanted to spend the day, he requested to spend the day with us, doing whatever Tan Man wanted to do. So.... after church, we will be heading to Fort Benjamin Park to play a little frisbee golf and football (even tho' I know that Rog would prefer to hang out at the beach).
What makes a good Father? The answer will be different for each person. Is it being caring, giving, sensitive to the family's wishes & dreams? Is it being funny & entertaining & creating wonderful memories with the kids? Is is working hard to provide for the kids or maybe cooking dinner each night? Is it being willing to compromise and make sacrifices for the kids? For me, It is all of the above, and Tan Man and I are very blessed to have Roger! We are the luckiest & richest people I know!
Wishing all of you dads out there a fabulous day, filled with happiness & love!
How will you be celebrating today?
