Frank Bette Center for the Arts Plein Air Paintout

The Park Street Art and Wine Faire took place this weekend.  One of the highlights of the Faire on Sunday July 29, was the addition of professional artists who participated in the Frank Bette Center for the Art's Plein Air Paintout quick draw.

It was wonderful to see artists on the sidewalk painting scenes from the Faire for the Plein Air event.  Having artists painting at the Park Street Art & Wine Faire is just like Paris' Montmartre district, well maybe not quite just like Montmartre, but close.  Plein Air is a French word for in the open air and the paintout is just that, a challenge for the artists to paint a scene outdoors, in this case a Faire scene,  in two hours.  The artists had to deal with Faire attendees obstructing their view of their subject, weather conditions and interruptions.  Even with all the distraction they created beautiful artwork.   It helps to be talented.

After the artists completed their paintings their art was framed and hung at a Faire venue near the entertainment.  The winner Lu Yu received a $500.00 award.
