"I do what I say I'm going to do!" That's part of my motto, and I'm making good on a promise I made last week in my post For Newbies Only: Find Out Who's Visiting Your Blog with StatCounter.
You can view a live demo of StatCounter first, if you wish. Click here to check it out. (The page will open in another window.) If you like it, come back for the tutorial. It's so easy to install, even I can do it!
Tutorial:
1. Open Active Rain to your Home Page.
2. Click on My Settings.
3. In a new tab (Internet Explorer) or a new window with other browsers, go to www.StatCounter.com. It's free, and it's easy.
4. Register an account with StatCounter.
5. In StatCounter, Add a New Project. Mine has the same name as my Active Rain blog. (If you have more than one blog, create a project for each blog.)
6. Click on the little wrench icon next to your project to get the html code necessary for installation on your blog. You'll copy it at StatCounter.com and paste it into your Blog Description (Settings on Active Rain, step 2.)
Important: Be sure to paste it into the correct box as I've done below. Otherwise, you'll have to start over again!
StatCounter has several icons from which to select. You can choose any icon for display on your blog, or none at all if you wish. It works like a charm.
Please leave a success! comment when you've got 'er done!
