This quote is from the 2014 Profile of Buyers and Sellers published by the National Association of Realtors®. In addition to starting their search on-line 83% stated that photos were very important when searching for a home.
It begs the question, why do we still see so many photos of open toilet lids, fuzzy dark rooms and close-ups of kitchen counters? As Realtors® we have 100% control over how our clients home look on-line. In my area professional photographers will take unlimited photos in a photo shoot. Most of them charge by the size of the home but you can get a home up to 7000 square feet completed for around $350.
A random search in our MLS of homes listed for over $1,000,000 out of 25 homes only 12 of them had professional photos done. Since we are handling one of the largest single financial transactions our sellers will likely do the cost of making their home one that stands out to buyers seems to be a small one.
