Most homeowners realize that fresh coat of paint applied to their home is one of the most inexpensive fixes they can make to their home, and will create a good impression on potential buyers for the home.  Below are a few painting tips that may help create a good first impression when selling a home:

·     Repaint outside doors using a color that is used within the neighborhood, and be sure to use outside paint that can weather the elements.

·    If the exterior of the house has peeling and/or faded trim and sliding, freshened up the exterior.  Before painting, wash and patch areas to provide a smooth and clean finish.

·    Interior walls, be sure to do your prep work of patching and tapping of walls before painting.  For trim areas, use trim paint even if similar color to the walls.

·   Avoid using vivid colors, use neutral colors since they resonate better with buyers. Using ivory, white and pale beige will not clash with buyer’s furniture.

Having a fresh coat of paint tends to cover up some of the ills of the property, as well as, gives the appearance the home has been well maintained.  Finally, painting is one of the cheapest repair expenses you can do to you home, and probably will give the greatest return on your investment.
