We get the typical visitors and sponsors here at the office, week in and week out. Foundation companies, inspectors, Title Companies... However, today was a special treat for a coffee lover like me, with Purpose Coffee Visiting the office to share their java story.
This husband and wife duo started with an interest and desire to pay forward and sponsor orphanage programs overseas for children that were destitute and abandoned. The need grew, as more children were taken care of, and they thought of ways to make an impact and self-sustain their efforts. In their small town of Dalhart, they knew that fundraising over and over wouldn't make the cut - they needed to peak the interest of local townspeople and make a splash at large.
So, after brainstorming with some of the local farmers in the area, they created and birthed the idea of Purpose Coffee Company. The company is non-profit and puts all income into sustaining water wells, orphanages and education efforts in Asia and Africa. It's about volunteers and community effort... making a difference with small changes in the way we do things day to day.
We got to taste a bit of the java... and I was quite impressed! The blend tried had a totally different taste, with earthy notes and a nice peppery finish. I'm no coffee connoisseur, but I appreciate the difference between good and bad roasts.
I invite you to check them out and help spread the word. Nothing comes to me from a plug like this - just a genuine business for two people that make a real impact with a little bit of compassion and logistics.
Order, try it out and feel good about the coffee you drink!
