Just saw that this contest inspired by Karen Fiedler is now sanctioned by Bob Stewart and is worth 1,000 points if completed by Sunday, January 3. Being a points hound, I need to come up with my top 10 moments of 2015, and keep it pretty honest. There have been so many, so these are the ones that come to mind first:
1. My daughter, a lawyer in Hawaii, has been advising me on some of my real estate deals here. It opened up a whole new line of communication between us that is both helpful and enjoyable.
2. My two grandsons, 7 and 9, are trying to introduce me to the world of "gaming" on the Internet. Not adult stuff, but pretty impressive kids stuff. Did you know there are whole worlds in there?
3. I had my best year ever in real estate in 2015 in every way. After several years of setting up my real estate brokerage structures both in Hawaii and California, am now concentrating on sales.
4. Had my first Activerain client and it was an AR member, Elizabeth Weintraub. It was especially memorable because we found her a house to purchase on the Big Island of Hawaii.
5. Took up swimming in a big way as my major form of exercise, including 5 weeks at 24 Hour Fitness in Mililani on Oahu, and 3 weeks in Palm Springs at the Arenas Gardens Hotel.
6. Had 3 unsolicited listing calls in Honolulu. These are memorable because I consider myself a "buyers" agent in Hawaii.
7. Swam across the Smith River this summer in Del Norte County, CA. Not a great feat in itself, but it left a major impression on me.
8. Swam with dolphins at Honaunau Bay on the Big Island Hawaii; not the tame dolphins in a tank. Unforgettable.
9. Picked up a major client in Northern California who is giving all their business to me; a lot of small transactions that are adding up.
10. Had my first walk-in at my Carmel-by-the-Sea office, a couple who were looking for a Carmel Cottage with a dynamite ocean view. This is memorable because I am seldom at my office and don't really invite walk-in traffic. But there they were, at my door, ready to spend $1 million plus.
This is pretty much a synopsis of my year. It doesn't include all those wonderful moments with family and friends, the walks on the beaches I frequent, the tramps in the forests, the walks in my garden with my dogs, the wonderful people I've met through my business. And the travel up and down the California Coast and time spent in Hawaii with yet other friends. Life is good, and I am thankful for that.
Happy New Year to One and All.
