When's the Right Time To Say Goodbye?
Never know when it's time to say goodbye.
But tonight is not the time.
Just returned, with my friend KC, after an office visit to the most caring Veterinarian on this planet. It was after 8:00 PM and this kind doctor spent half hour just talking, petting and examining Franki ... a sweet beagle and long time family member.
It was decided...
Tonight was not the night to say goodbye!

It is extremely rare to find a kindred spirit, the dearest of friends and a sister later in life but I did. Thank you for taking Grace, Franki, and me to the vet last night. However, you didn't mention how very kind and empathetic you were in this decision. There are no words to express my gratitude for you being there and sharing my pain. Love you!

Margaret- there never seems to be enough time and it is a cruel fate in life that we grow so close to our 4-legged friends who give us all of this unconditional love, then have to say good-bye.

My experience has been they will tell you when it's the right time. It's in their eyes. We think that we make the decisions, but sometimes they just tell us when. It's heartbreaking, never easy, regardless. In my younger years, I would go to bed and cry for 3 days straight after a pet died. I don't have that kind of time now, so I spread out the tears over a few weeks, years.
I suspect you will be that rock for your friend, KC, when the time does come.
