The Humane Society of York County in Fort Mill, South Carolina (just over the state border from Charlotte, NC) is sponsoring the local "Clear The Shelters" event this Saturday, July 23rd. This is a one-day only event when all adoption fees will be waived.
Clear the Shelters is a nationwide pet adoption initiative whose purpose is to connect animals in need with loving new families. Animal shelters all around the country will be joining in on Saturday, July 23rd to clear the shelters! In 2015 more than 19,000 pets were adopted at over 400 shelters nationwide.
If you're wanting to provide a fur-ever home to a shelter dog or cat at the Clear the Shelters event in the Charlotte metro area, the Humane Society of York County requests you do the following:
- If you already have pets at home you must bring documentatio showing proof of up-to-date vaccination and spay/neuter completion for every pet in your home.
- A "meet and greet" will be required for canine adoptions if you already have a dog in your home.
- All canine adoptions will require a home visit and your home must be within a 30 mile radius.
- For cat adoptions, please bring your own cat carrier.
- All adopters must be at least 21 years old.
