View of the World Aka Weltanschauung of Active Rain: a perspective by Endre Barath a Beverly Hills Realtor
Even though, the Active Rain Worldview is shared by many in this community, over the years I have placed more emphasis on some, than on others. My beliefs, my values, as well as my behavior stem directly from my background as well as my life experiences i.e.: my “Worldview”.
My Weltanschauung has been affected by many factors, some of it is, because I lived in Europe during the first 13+ years of my life and ten of it happened to be in Communist Hungary. Followed by the next three years in a Neutral Country. Hence, due to my life situation, I have placed more focus on what is important, what is good and what is sacred in life and what is real to me, compared to others who have taken many of these factors for granted in the US.
I have been on this platform for a long time and I learned to appreciate the intent of the Founding Fathers’ of Active Rain. I have been saddened over the years of their as well as some other members departures. Let’s not forget, I was equally saddened over the various directions the platform has been meandering. At times, I have compared it to a large vessel moving on the ocean without a Captain or a Navigator.
Never the less, the fact that the Weltanschauung remained on this platform, it is a direct credit to the members of this community. As time passed I had changed my views on what was more important of the ten principals. The reality is, each point is critical to make this platform work. Not one is more important than the other (now keep in mind this took years for me to come to terms with).
At times I have groused, why do we have to rehash this subject year after year via Active Rain contests, then it hit me, it does not hurt to bring it to the forefront, since many probably never read them, because they are hidden on this platform and you must search for it to find it.
Ironically, Lynn B. Friedman has done a great service to the community by “placing it in your face” via an Active Rain Contest. For the members who are focused on the “points only, i.e.: to move up or stay in a certain position” this might be an “inconvenience and a hassle” to do, since writing about the same subject gets harder or should I say more challenging year after year.
